It turns out that while the bar closed, The Stripteasers were far from finished. We are just so grateful that we had that opportunity. Those were amazing days because we started and grew to be what we are today. Today we are strong, professional, and so incredibly tight as a troupe. Today, The Stripteasers are mixing it up, by introducing their craft to a broader audience.
This Saturday!!! David Kane will be creating some music magic before the dancing girls come out!!! So excited to have Special Guest- Disco Nap with us!!!! We would just like to say thank you to everyone that came out Saturday night for our Annual Halloween Show at Nietzsches Allen! The bands were killing it all night long!!! Thank you to the staff of course!!!
The Stripteasers Burlesque - Nietzsche's - Dyke Tracy - 002
Jamie Doktor is a mover and shaker. It was Doktor who brought to Buffalo the neo-burlesque movement that emerged in New York City in the s. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, neoburlesque adds contemporary self-awareness to nostalgic performance traditions, with vaudevillian theatrical flourishes, and gender-bending tendencies. She has also taught the secrets of artful disrobement to upwards of seventy-five area women and some men from all walks in life—from ages twenty-one to sixty-one.
Simply put, Jamie Doktor has presence. Upon first meeting her, one might assume that she has always been the dynamic creature that we see today. While I believe those seeds have always been there, I suspect that her journey through burlesque nurtured her excellent essence into the Buffalo Royalty that so many have come to know and love. Back in the early aughts, Jamie was living in Atlanta, existing as many young people do: a starving artist enjoying a semi-rock star lifestyle. Through the connections she made through work, charisma, and panache, she was invited to many soirees.
